Greenville, South Carolina was founded in 1786. Greenville was originally spelled Greeneville, after General Nathanael Greene, a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War. The city of Greenville has an award-winning downtown with plenty of restaurants, shopping centers and entertainment venues and is known for being incredibly pedestrian-friendly. If you love museums, Greenville has some great ones! The Upcountry History Museum, The Children's Museum of the Upstate and the Greenville County Museum of Art are located downtown within a few blocks of each other. Nature can also be found downtown. Falls Park on the Reedy is a beautiful park in the West End District where one can sit in nature and enjoy the rushing sounds of the waterfall.
