Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

embry-riddle-aeronautical-universityEmbry-Riddle Aeronautical University, located in Prescott, Arizona, will proudly introduce The Funkeys Dueling Pianos players Jake and Ryan on October 18, 2013. Dueling Pianos (also known simply as "sing-along") is a form of entertainment, usually on stage with two grand pianos, each played by a professional player who sings and entertains the audience. Embry-Riddle University hosted Dueling Pianos last July for three days in the Hanger nightclub. As the 100 students and faculty filled The lower Hanger nightclub they found this nightclub was transformed into a dueling piano bar centered on two grand pianos back-to-back with Jake and Ryan facing each other.Starting at 7 p.m. students played jeopardy which allowed the patrons to get in groups of two to four and find out who was the best at general knowledge. Some of the categories included facts based on drugs and alcohol, while another was about pianos. The game went on for about an hour until a winner was determined.

At 8 p.m. the main event began. The pianists decided to try things a little different this time by playing requested songs from the audience on keyboards rather than grand pianos. This made the crowd go wild! The opener was the song Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis which got the audience to chime in and sing along and request songs such as Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks. As the night went on the audience began to start a competition between two sides of the room by shouting out the correct title of either a TV series or movie, the winner would receive a point. With only fifteen minutes left of the night, excitement picked up as Ryan and Jake took requests from the audience’s tables, combined them and began their mash-up. The audience erupted with applause leaving Ryan and Jake with a standing ovation.Dueling Pianos continues to please our nationwide audience each time leaving them with the thrill of a lifetime.
