Between 1000 AD and 1450 AD the Native Americans built mounds in the area to elevate buildings that were important to them. These mounds are still intact today, over a thousand years later and can be viewed year round! Evansville also is home to Indiana's first casino, the USS LST-325 history museum and Mesker Park Zoo.
