Tampa, Florida was founded in 1887. A year prior to 1887, the first cigar factory was established on the corner of East 7th Avenue and North 15th Street. Specializing in the making of hand-rolled Cuban cigars, the city expanded quickly and more cigar factories opened up, earning Tampa the nickname "Cigar City." These days, you can visit El Reloj, Tampa's last-operating cigar factory, to take a tour of the building, visit their store or attend a class to learn to hand-roll a cigar yourself. The cigar industry may have built this city, but there is much more to Tampa than cigars! This coastal city has plenty more to see and do. Visit the Busch Gardens to ride some roller coasters, slide down some massive water slides at Adventure Island, take a photo with a Koala at Zoo Tampa or visit the Riverwalk for a bit of shopping and incredible cuisine.
