On March 13, 2026, music took center stage in Southgate as keys clashed for an unforgettable cause. The Huron Music Boosters officially raised the roof at The Grecian Center, hosting a high-energy fundraising gala featuring the globally acclaimed entertainers from Dueling Pianos International. The night combined incredible food, community spirit, and rapid-fire musical comedy to support local student music programs. Here is a recap of how the community packed the house and kept the pianos rocking all night.
A Beautiful Venue for a Great Cause.
The evening kicked off inside the elegant ballroom of The Grecian Center. Known as one of Downriver’s premier event destinations, the staff served up a fantastic dinner that fueled the crowd for the interactive spectacle ahead. As the dessert plates were cleared, the lights dimmed, and the focus shifted to two baby grand pianos facing each other on the main stage.
Unstoppable Energy from Dueling Pianos International
From the very first chord, the musicians from Dueling Pianos International commanded the room. Rather than a passive concert, the performers turned the entire crowd into the stars of the show. Guests filled out request slips, placing them on the pianos to contribute to the evening’s playlist. The musical range was staggering: Classic Rock Anthems that got the entire room shouting the chorus. Motown Favorites that paid perfect homage to our nearby Detroit roots. Modern Pop & Country Hits that kept the energy vibrant and unpredictable. The signature element of the night was the friendly, “dueling” crowd participation. The performers split The Grecian Center ballroom right down the middle, pitting the left side against the right side in roaring sing-along battles and playful call-and-response games.
Singing Loud, Raising Loud
What makes a Dueling Pianos International fundraiser so unique is how naturally the entertainment drives the fundraising goal. Throughout the night, guests placed tips alongside their song requests to bump their favorite tunes to the top of the pile. Witty banter and lighthearted “bidding wars” broke out over which classic songs would get played next, with 100% of those proceeds directly benefiting the Huron Music Boosters. Between the song requests, the ticket sales, and the generosity of the Downriver community, the event secured critical funding to support new instruments and equipment maintenance, travel costs for regional band and choir competitions, sheet music, and specialized instructional clinics for students.

The March 13th event proved once again that music has the power to bring people together. The Huron Music Boosters extend a massive thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, sang at the top of their lungs, and donated so generously.
